Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra

Young Artists' Auditions for 2008

2008 marks the 51st anniversary of the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra's Young Artists Concerts, which feature the winners of the Young Artists' Auditions. The auditions are well-known in the Delaware Valley, and contestants come from several states.

Those who audition must be between 8-18 years of age and must be prepared to play one movement of a concerto or an equivalent piece. Singers up to age 23 with voices mature enough to perform with a symphony orchestra are also welcomed. Auditions for the 2008 Young Artists' Concert will be held at the Settlement Music School in Wynnefield.

By participating in the auditions, contestants gain audition experience before the panel of musicians and teachers and receive objective evaluations of playing ability. The judges send written comments to each contestant. Between one to four musicians will selected to perform with the Lansdowne Symphony at the Young Artists' Concert during the 2008-2009 concert season.
