
Accomplished music director and conductor of the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra since 1991, Irving Ludwig is a distinguished presence in our music community. Born in Philadelphia, he received his musical training and education at the prestigious Settlement Music School. At the young age of 18, Mr. Ludwig began his professional career as a violinist with the National Symphony Orchestra. Two years later, he joined the Philadelphia Orchestra, where he enjoyed a remarkable 39-year tenure, 32 of which he performed under Maestro Eugene Ormandy. In addition, Mr. Ludwig played under the renowned batons of Riccardo Muti and Wolfgang Sawallisch.
Under Mr. Ludwig's talented and dedicated direction, this community orchestra has grown into a regionally recognized orchestra featuring the extraordinary talents of many fine musicians.
